We are on a quest to SCUBA dive all 50 states – Freshwater only!!!

Our Progress:
As of August 2024:
We currently have 38 states where we have both dove in fresh water.
We were able to add Alaska in the summer of 2024, we just haven’t updated the graphic below.
The 2025 plan:
Well….. the plan was:
In the early summer of 2025, we are planning to knock out the Pacific Northwestern states, with a quick stop at Lake Tahoe.
We are hoping to fit in the mid-Atlantic states as well in the late summer / early fall.
If we are lucky, we can also pick up the few leftover states in other random adventures, and hoping for a big finish in Hawaii in 2026 or 2027.
May 2025 Update:
Due to a lot of sickness and injuries this year, we have had to put our adventure plans on hold for some recovery time.
We are hoping to at least do some diving late Fall in the Pacific Northwest. We are still planning adventures, and we are hoping to get back on track ASAP!
We are always looking for suggestion for dive sites and events!
Our requirements: FRESH WATER that is not toxic, not illegal (mostly) to dive in, and not (too) gross.
Preferably 85 degrees and clear, allowing for at least a 20 minute dive for at least 20 feet, but we’ve learned that doesn’t always work out.
We’ll settle for deep and long enough to register on our computer, bonus if there’s more than rocks or muck to stare at, no wild life that will try to eat us, not having to walk a mile uphill in wet gear after, and viz decent enough to take some pictures.

We are story tellers, and we want you to explore on your own!
Our goal is to create a living journal so we can share our story and have a list of freshwater sites across the U.S. for you. Ones we have dove and ones we know or have heard about, so you to enjoy, explore, work on skills, get some bubble time in, and have your own adventures.
Can’t promise they will be the best, but we’ll share where we have been, what we recommend, and add in some friendly guidance, exciting adventures, and hope to build a community that loves to dive!
We will also share:
- Adventures we have been on and stories about places we’ve been.
- Some non-SCUBA related side trips.
- Lesson’s learned, and resources we use.
- Some high quality – award winning photographs usually taken by us, of us, underwater. (Feel the sarcasm .. but we will post some.)
- A few great places not in the US to go get some bubble time across the globe.
- AND TRIPS YOU CAN JOIN US ON!!

Fun loving guy from both sides of the US that has accumulated all the initials: Army Veteran, active career firefighter, practicing PA-C, Scottish Lord, DMSc, MPH, and is an Explorer Club Member. Holds certifications from NAUI, PADI, EDRI/SDI/TDI Course Director and Instructor Trainer. Diving since 1997.

Texas born and raised, an Aggie grad that loves adventure, is a small business owner, and probably a bad influence. NAUI and SDI/TDI diver that hasn’t drowned yet. Diving since 2017.

Not only do we want to share our adventures with all of our friends, new and old, but we want promote something we love doing (travel and SCUBA), create community, and share some hard learned wisdom.
Our quest is also a chance to create memories, live and enjoy life, and continue to get to know and grow with each other. And sometimes some of our closest friends. A few of them you can blame for this.
